Seminar 1.33: Sword & Buckler, Leeds

Sword and Buckler 2018

Following the success of last year’s one day Sword & Buckler event and to tie in with the Royal Armouries launch of the new publication of 1.33 (or Walpurgis manuscript), we would like to invite you to a weekend full of all things Sword & Buckler related at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds on the 12th and 13th May 2018.

This event is run in association with KDF International, the Society for Combat Archaeology and the Royal Armouries Museum. Workshops will be delivered by qualified instructors from around Europe and will focus on the use of the single handed sword, sword & buckler, round shield and messer based on research from medieval fighting manuals.

Other activities will include handling sessions of museum artefacts and a viewing of the Royal Armouries 1.33 manuscript (Tower Fechtbuch), hosted by the Royal Armouries Museum curators, and lectures from experts in the field. There will also be a celebration meal on the Saturday evening in Leeds city centre.

This event is open to the public and all levels of enthusiast from novice to expert are welcome.
